I’ve been wanting to play around with mint eyeshadow so I finally gave it a go. This is one of my favorite makeup looks so far. The Smokey Mint Eyeshadow look was achieved using the MAC Hello Kitty- Too Dolly eyeshadow palette. I used the colors “Too Dolly” (mint green) , “Stately Black”, and “Romping” for this look.
I wanted to try a simple but sexy look for Valentine’s Day. My hubby is a huge fan of the smokey eye, so this was done with him in mind. I’m still new to perfecting my smokey eye technique, but I have found that having a very dark base helps with getting the gradient effect. In my opinion, using black eye shadow alone just wasn’t enough. In this look, I used my liquid eyeliner as a base. It turned out perfect! The red lip color is a combination of two lipsticks, Wet n Wild “Red Velvet” and Milani “Black Cherry”.
Here’s my second attempt in straightening my hair 2 years post relaxer and this time around turned out a lot better. I purchased a new flat iron, the RED BY KISS Silicone Styler (1-1/2″). This flat iron is awesome for the price. Although the results are much better than they were with my old flat iron, I’m not completely satisfied. That has nothing to do with the flat iron because it’s amazing. It’s my hair and me being officially 2 years post relaxer.
If you’ve been following my hair journey for a while, you already know how I love my straight, sleek hair. Up until a few months ago, I was able to get my hair really straight. But now as I have more and more natural hair, I cannot get the look I desire anymore. It is for this reason that I have finally decided to relax…well texlax. I hate that I dread doing my hair when I have always looked forward to pampering my hair. I know that I will enjoy my hair so much more. I also want to experiment with colored clip-ins.
This video is a look at my first successful DIY full wig with lace closure. I say “first successful” because I attempted to make one before using some very cheap hair I purchased from Aliexpress. Needless to say, that didn’t turn out to well. The hair was terrible, I sewed the wefts too close together resulting in me running out of hair, and I sewed the cap too tight, so it didn’t fit properly. This time around, I learned from my mistakes.
The hair used for this DIY full wig is from the hair company, Nicole Noire (formerly Remy Ready). It’s the Brazilian straight in 14”, 16”, and 18”. The closure is from Aliexpress. It is not the best quality, but it gets the job done. This is not the original color of the hair. It came in a natural color, which is like a #2. The color was way too light to blend with my hair so I colored this hair black using Revlon Colorsilk (can’t remember the exact color). This hair is great quality. It took the color well, very minimal shedding, and little to no tangling. I’ve had this hair for about 2 months so far. I will definitely keep you guys updated.
This makeup look was created using the Wet n Wild eyeshadow trio pallet Im Getting Sunburned and Wet n Wild’s lipstick “Dollhouse Pink”. I love the gold color in this palette. It reminds me of “Amber Lights” by MAC, which is one of my all-time favorite eyeshadows. The other colors in this trio are awesome as well. They are very pigmented and easy to apply. Not to mention the affordable price. At $3.99, I may pick up their other eyeshadow trios.
As you may have noticed I have been on an extensive protective style regimen which basically consists of wearing wigs. I mainly started this to give my hair a complete break from the daily manipulation of bunning and braid-outs. Wearing wigs has also helped me in my current relaxer stretch. It has been two years since my last relaxer. I must say that I had no intention of going this long. It sort of just happened.
My hair has benefited greatly from this “hands off” regimen. I’ve notice my problem area in the nape of my hair has completely recovered and is catching up in length with the rest of my hair. However, I do have a love/hate relationship with the fullness. I don’t want to relax because I see how fast my hair has bounced back to health without it. But I do want to relax because maintaining all of the fullness has become very time consuming. My future plans for my hair are still up in the air :/
