Missy Lynn Color Lock Lipstick Review – LongHairPrettyNails

I picked up the Missy Lynn Color Lock Lipstick from BH Cosmetics during their Black Friday sale. These lipsticks were introduced to the public a few months ago by the beautiful Missy Lynn on youtube. Everyone has been patiently waiting for their release. So when I saw that the Missy Lynn Color Lock Lipstick was available during BH Cosmetic’s Black Friday sale, I had to get them. I’m not sure what the regular price is but this were on sale for $6.50 each. I couldn’t decide which color to settle on so I bought all four. The colors are Cloud 9, Serenity, Missy Lynn, and L’amour.

Cloud 9 is a beige nude color. I found that this color just did not work well with my skin tone. One of my Youtube subscriber’s suggested that I fill my lips in with a dark brown lip pencil first, then apply Cloud 9 on top. I’ll have to give this a try because this is not the business lol. Missy Lynn Color Lock Lipstick

Serenity is a peachy nude color. Once again, this color did not work for me. I also found that this formulation was a bit dry and hard to spread evenly. As you can see, this lippie just screams powder donuts lol. I will have to try the dark brown lip liner trick to see if that would work for this color too.

Missy Lynn Color Lock Lipstick

Miss Lynn is a deep chocolate brown color. At first I was not sure how I was going to like this because I thought it was just a basic brown color. It is but it is the perfect brown shade. It works so well with my skin complexion. This lipstick glides on smooth and it’s very creamy and moisturizing to the lips. It’s also very long lasting. It stay put all day even through drinking and eating. The Missy Lynn color is definitely a favorite.

L’amour is deep red color. It is true red color with no hints of purple. This color goes beautiful with my skin tone as well. This lipstick glides on great just like the Missy Lynn color. Although it dries to a matte finish, it is still very moisturizing to the lips and doesn’t leave that dry, chalky feeling.

Missy Lynn Color Lock Lipstick

Overall, I think they are great buys. I would definitely recommend Missy Lynn and L’amour. I suppose if you have the right complexion, the others would work for you too. For $6.50 a piece you can’t beat that.

Urban Decay Vice 4 – First Impressions and Demo

Urban Decay Vice 4 – My Sephora Beauty Insider yearly Christmas coupon snuck up on me this year. I hadn’t realized that it was about that time of the year. I was pleasantly surprised to say the lease. I mean who would pass up a free $15 dollars at Sephora. Anyway, I was a little undecided as to what I wanted to buy. I first had my eyes on the Anastasia Beverly Hill cream contour palette. But after seeing many mixed reviews about it, I decided against it. Then I came across the Urban Decay Vice 4 eyeshadow palette. After seeing all of the great reviews and the beautiful eyeshadow looks that other ladies did with the palette, I knew I had to have it.

Urban Decay Vice 4

This palette is pretty pricey at the retail price of $60. I wasn’t sure if it was actually worth it. I took the plunge because I did have the Sephora coupon that relieved a bit of the sticker shock. When I received it in the mail, I was surprised to see how large this palette actually is. I also love the cute pouch that comes with it. When I first opened the palette, I was amazed by the size of the mirror and the large size of the eyeshadows.

Urban Decay Vice 4

Obviously, I was super excited to dig in and play around with these eyeshadows. Here is a little look I came up with. I used Bitter as my transition color and Delete in the outer crease area. I used 1985 on the lid and Harlot in the inner tear duct area. I use a little of BeatDown in the outer corner to give a hint of color. I lined my bottom lash line with Grasshopper. Finally, I used Bones for my brow bone highlight color. This is the perfect highlight color for my skin tone. I usually hate using eyeshadow for highlights because they are so small, but this is definitely an exception. I used this as a highlight on the high points of my checks in a different makeup look and it was so perfect. All of the colors were extremely easy to work with a blend. I experienced very little fall out also. This eyeshadow palette has a great mix of shimmer and mattes. I also love how unique the colors are. All in all, I’m very happy I have the Urban Decay Vice 4 palette in my collection.

Healthy Texlaxed Hair Journey – November 2015 Update

Healthy Texlaxed Hair Journey

Healthy Texlaxed Hair Journey – This hair update is way overdue. I try to do a hair update every 3 months so I can track my progress. It also lets me know if whatever I’ve been since the previous update has been beneficial to my hair or not. For some reason, time just got away from me. Better late (2 months to be exact) than never, right? lol

This time around, I finally texlaxed my hair again after waiting for 19 months. I had the urge to wear my hair straight for some time now. Every time I would flat-iron it, it would only last 3-4 days before it would begin to revert. Four days is just not enough time for me to enjoy my straightened hair lol. My hair was also super thick and full. It made doing simple task like washing and blow drying a hassle.

I used Elasta QP Soy Oyl Protein+Vitamins No Base Creme Relaxer. I applied it to my hair new growth and let it process for 15 minutes, then rinsed it out. I followed that with Elasta QP Soy Oyl Neutralizer Shampoo and washed my hair 2 times to ensure all of the relaxer was removed. I then conditioned with Suave Humectance Conditioner.

Blow drying and straightening my hair was a breeze after texlaing. It took about 45 minutes total. Needless to say, I love the sleek yet textured results.

Healthy Texlaxed Hair Journey I have been using the Nzuri products for hair growth for about 3 and 1/2 months. I must say that I am a believer. My hair has really gained some length since my last hair update. I don’t ever recall my ponytails having this much hang time lol! If you are interested in a length check shirt, get it here.Healthy Texlaxed Hair Journey I plan to enjoy my hair a little more over the upcoming holiday season, then it will be back to protective styling. I will be changing up my regimen just a bit. I usually braid my hair so that it is flat and I can wear my wigs. I try to moisture and seal my braid regularly, but that doesn’t always happen. Sometimes I go 2+ weeks without doing anything to my hair. Horrible…I know. My suffers when it is time to wash because it so dry and difficult to detangle. I plan to now wash and condition my hair weekly. This change in my regimen will give my hair that added moisture that it’s been craving. Also, it will make it easier to detangle my hair because I’m not waiting so long to do it. Healthy Texlaxed Hair Journey Healthy Texlaxed Hair Journey

Encapsulated 3D Acrylic Nails – Pink Nude Ombre

Encapsulated 3D Acrylic Nails – After wearing some crazy colors and designs for a few weeks, I was longing for my pink nude nails again.
This design is a pretty basic pink nude ombre but of course, I had to add a little something. I did a 3D
encapsulated flower on each ring finger nail.Encapsulated 3D Acrylic Nails

Products used to create this design:

  • No-Lift Nails Primer
  • No-Lift Liquid Acrylic
  • Natural Color Nail Tips
  • GERmanikure Crystal Glass File
  • Iridescent Glitter (from Born Pretty Store)
  • Tammy Taylor Whitest White Acrylic Powder
  • Tammy Taylor P3 Acrylic Powder
  • Beauty Secrets Clear Acrylic Powder
  • Medium Pink Acrylic Powder (purchased from @nunis_nails on Instagram)
  • Kolinsky #6 Acrylic Brush
  • White and Silver Nail Art Paint
  • Pink Gellac Ultra Shine No-Wipe UV / LED Gel Top Coat

I removed my previous acrylic nail set and prepped my natural nails for a fresh acrylic nail application. I
love my acrylic nails but I also make a point to take care of my natural nails. I was sent a crystal glass nail
file from GERmanikure to try out. From my researched, I found out that glass files are much safer for
natural nails. This file is made of Boeheim glass and is chemically etched, which basically means that you
can file your natural nails in both directions without causing frays or gouges in the nail. It also shapes
them fast and leaves a smooth edge.Encapsulated 3D Acrylic Nails Encapsulated 3D Acrylic Nails

Next I applied my nail tips using Nailene nail glue. I get a lot of questions about this nail glue and I don’t
quite get that because this just regular cheap nail glue lol. I picked this up on my trips to the grocery
store. It lasts a long time for me. I haven’t had any nails break while using it.Encapsulated 3D Acrylic Nails

Next, I trimmed that extra length with scissors and shaped them with the GERmanikure glass file. This file works great with artificial nails too. I find that I have better control with the file and I’m able to get the perfect shape more easily. Once again, I love that it leaves the filled edge smooth. Anyone else tired of stabbing yourself with sharp nails? Lol. Encapsulated 3D Acrylic NailsEncapsulated 3D Acrylic Nails

I applied my No-Lift Nails primer to all ten nails. I then created the 3D flower. I formed the flower directly on my natural nail and made it as flat as possible. This will ensure that once I cover it with clear acrylic, the nail will not be too chunky.Encapsulated 3D Acrylic Nails encapnails.Still011 (1)

I then moved on to the rest of my nails. I applied Nuni Torrez Medium Pink acrylic powder to my nail bed and clear to the tips for the perfect natural gradient.Encapsulated 3D Acrylic Nails Encapsulated 3D Acrylic Nails

I filed, shapped, and buffed my nails. Then I used white and silver nail art paint to create some free-hand nail art on the two encapsulated nails. Finally, I applied Pink Gellac Ultra Shine Gel Top Coat and cured for 60 seconds.encapnails.Still012 (1) Encapsulated 3D Acrylic NailsEncapsulated 3D Acrylic Nails

I love the simplicity of this design. This is actually my first time trying encapsulated 3D nail art. I love it and will definitely incorporate this into more designs in the future. Let me know what you think. Share your thoughts below.

Maxtress Brazilian Curly Hair – Defining Those Curls!!

Maxtress Brazilian CurlyI received some gorgeous hair from Maxtress to review. This is their Brazilian Curly hair. I got three bundles (16″, 18″ and 20″) and a 14″ closure. The closure is swiss lace and measures 4×4 inches. I received the hair via DHL in 3 days. Maxtress is located in China, so 3 days for shipping is really fast. The hair is super lush and full. When I first received the hair, it came in an uniform spiral curl pattern. Only after finger combing and breaking apart the curls, do you see the true fullness of the hair.

Maxtress Brazilian CurlyThe bundles are very full from root to tip. Each bundle weighs 3.5oz. The hair did not have a weird smell or anything like that. My first impression of the hair was that it is very great quality. Here’s my unboxing video for this hair

Maxtress Brazilian CurlyI made a full wig with closure using this Brazilian curly hair. This hair is so full that I only used 2 and 1/4 bundles and the closure. I don’t think there would have been a way to use all of the hair because it would’ve been entirely too much lol. I was going for a “natural” density. I also dyed the hair using Revlon Colorsilk – Soft Black. The natural hair color was a little brown for my liking, this is why I decided to color it to match my natural hair color.  Maxtress Brazilian Curly I have been wearing this hair consistently for 2 weeks now, so I have a pretty good feel for it. I do not experience any shedding and matting with the hair. I can always easily run my fingers through the hair. This Brazilian curly hair dose get bigger and bigger with each day. I can go about 3 days before needing to tame and define the curls again. To define the curls, I use Water and Curly Twirls Twirl Tamer Detangling Leave-In Conditioner. This combination hydrates the curls and make them pop!Maxtress Brazilian Curly Maxtress Brazilian Curly Maxtress Brazilian CurlyI am very impressed with this hair. I didn’t know what to expect because this hair is on the affordable side. But now I see that it is truly good quality. It’s also a plus that this Brazilian curly hair is super low maintenance.

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24h Foundation Review

I am always on the look out for the perfect foundation. Through my journey, I have found that the “perfect foundation” doesn’t really exist. You have those that works well with your skin type, but the color is off. Or you may find foundation that matches your skin perfectly but it only last 4 hours before the oil takes over. I have had my share of ups and downs with finding a foundation that works for me. I think this time I have found my holy grail foundation.Lancome Teint Idole

I was browsing through YouTube for foundation reviews for oily skin and I came across a few review videos on the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24h Foundation. Everyone was saying how great it was and how it really last throughout the day. Many people also said that it has really great coverage without being too heavy and cakey. I decided to give it a try.

I purchased mine from HSN so if it didn’t work, I could always send it back. At $50 a pop, I had to have some sort of insurance in case this didn’t work. I wasn’t sure which color t get. I basically just guessed and chose color 500 Suede W. I am so happy I took the plunged and purchased this foundation because I am truly in love. I was a little concern about ordering a color label as warm because most warm colored foundations have very red undertones. But the Lancome Teint Idole ultra 24h Foundation is  not super red at all. It adds the perfect amount of warmth to the face which gives it a very natural finish. The formula is light but has amazing coverage. I have really oily skin and this foundation last all day with minimal blotting. I also love that it doesn’t take much of the product for full coverage. I use 1 and 1/2 pump which is enough for my entire face. Since purchasing the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24h Foundation, it has been my go to. I haven’t used anything else.

Here are the products I used for the makeup look:

If you are in the market for a new foundation, I would definitely give the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24h Foundation. There are a wide arrange of colors to choose from especially in the darker range. I know $50 for a foundation is pretty steep, but I think it’s definitely worth it.Lancome Teint Idole
