Halloween Nails w/ 3D Acrylic Art – LongHairPrettyNails

Halloween NailsI have been so in love with nude nails lately that I haven’t really been doing any complex nail art. I love crazy nail designs. I realized that I’ve never done a Halloween nail design before. So, I decided to see what I could come up with.

Products used to create this design:

I removed the aquarium nails from my previous design by soaking them in 100% acetone nail polish remover. I prepped my natural nail and applied a nail tip for added length. Then I applied the LongHairPrettyNails Pink Nude Acrylic Powder to the nail bed. Feathering the acrylic lightly towards the free edge so there would be no harsh lines.

Halloween Nails Next, I took a bead of Beauty Secret’s Clear Acrylic Powder then dipped in into the orange glitter mix from Born Pretty Store. I placed the glitter bead on the tip of the nail and lightly brushed it downwards to create a gradient effect. Halloween Nails I placed the Rose Gold Glitter just below the Orange Glitter and did the same technique.Halloween Nails Once everything was blended to my liking, I encapsulated the entire nail with Beauty Secret’s Clear Acrylic. Halloween Nails I incorporated the OPI nail polish into the design by cleverly covering up the white tips. I did a french tip on some nails and painted the entire nail on others. Halloween Nails Next, I use Orange Acrylic powder (purchased from Born Pretty Store) to create the pumkin. halloweenails.Still007 (1) I used an Xacto knife to make the indentations in the acrylic before if fully harded. I dipped the Xacto knife into the orange acrylic powder before doing this step. This keeps the knife from sticking to the acrylic. halloweenails.Still008 (1) I used Brown Acrylic powder, also purchased from Born Pretty Store, for the stem. halloweenails.Still009 (1) To create the ghost, I used Tammy Taylor Whitest White Acrylic powder. halloweenails.Still010 (1)

For the spider web, I used black acrylic nail art paint that I purchased from Sally’s Beauty Supply.halloweenails.Still011 (1) I used the same paint to create the face for the ghost and the pumpkin.halloweenails.Still012 (1) I received this tray and pen tool from Born Pretty Store. I love applying rhinestones to my nails, but I often have a difficult time placing the stones quick enough before the acrylic I use to adhere them, dries and harden. The tray keeps all of rhinestones organized. Mine had always found it’s way all over the place lol. The pen tool has wax on the tip which makes picking up the stones very easy. I was able to work quicker. That means I’ll be doing way more bling nail designs in the future!halloweenails.Still013 (1) halloweenails.Still014 (1) IMG_0971 (1)I’m really happy about how these turned out. Surprisingly, I received so many compliments on this set. What are your thoughts about these Halloween Nails? Share them below!

Aquarium Nails: Second Attempt – LongHairPrettyNails

Aquarium nails (or water nails) were a big thing about 10 years ago. Now, it seems to be making a comeback because it is all over Instagram. In my last nail post, I tried the aquarium nails once before. It didn’t turn out too well. The glitter inside the nail did not move freely like it should. So, I decided to try it again with a slightly different technique.

Products used to create this design:

I really loved my nail design from last week. It’s a classic Pink and White design where I use the LongHairPrettyNails Pink Nude Acrylic Powder. I just wasn’t happy with how the aquarium nails turned out. Since this is a fresh set of acrylic nails, I didn’t want to completely remove them. So, I just removed the two failed aquarium nails by soaking them in 100% acetone nail polish remover.

As stated above, I wanted to try a different technique to see if that would yield better results. Last time, I adhered the clear nail tips to an already completed acrylic nail. Which I later learned, didn’t leave enough space for the glitter underneath the clear tip to move easily. This time I glued a clear tip to my natural nail. I lightly shaped it and blended it into my natural nail. Then I placed another clear nail tip over my entire nail and sealed the top and sides with the Beauty Secret’s Clear Acrylic powder. This method left enough space between my natural nail and the clear tip on top. Next, I put in glitter and baby oil. Then I sealed in the opening with more Beauty Secret’s Clear Acrylic powder. With the extra space in between the nail, the glitter inside moves freely and now resembles how an aquarium nail should function.

I topped off the aquarium nails with a little bit of free hand nail art using white acrylic paint. And lastly, two coats of Seche Vite Top Coat

I am much happier with these results. What do you think about the aquarium nails? Share your thoughts below.

Anti Aging Serum – Defy Naturals Vitamin C Serum

Anti Aging SerumWe all would love to have a healthy glowing face that is free from wrinkles, blemishes, and uneven skin tones. Well, the new Defy Naturals Vitamin C anti aging serum promises just that. I had the opportunity to test out this product. Here are my thoughts. #defynaturals

I was initially interested in trying out this product because I wear makeup nearly everyday. I admit my skin is not as flawless as I would like it to be. At the moment, I don’t have a skin care regimen that I am following. My diet is not the best either. So I figured I can try something to sort of “jump start” my journey to better skin.

Anti Aging Serum

My package arrived pretty quickly, like within 7 days. I tested the Defy Naturals Vitamin C Anti Aging Serum for about  6 weeks. The consistency is a bit different from what I was expecting from a serum. Most serums are thick and oily. But the Defy Natural Vitamin C Anti Aging Serum is of a thinner consistency and it not oily at all. When I apply it to my face, it absorbs into my skin quickly with no sticky or oily residue. I have really oily skin so I have been using this as a light moisturizer before I apply my makeup.

By the second week, I notice that my dark spots were not a noticeable as they were. And my face overall had a more even skin tone.

Here are the benefits:

“ANTI-AGING – Vitamin C plays a critical role in preserving healthy, vibrant skin. However, as we age the Vitamin C in our skin decreases naturally. Add in UV light exposure, cigarette smoke and other pollutants in the atmosphere and the aging process speeds up even more. Using a concentrated Vitamin C serum like Defy Naturals slows the aging process and can even reverse it.

CLINICAL STRENGTH FORMULA – Professionally formulated Vitamin C Serum to go into your skin to repair and reverse aging and sun damage, as well as regenerate new skin cells. This top-rated formula also contains natural extracts of aloe, thyme and chamomile to reduce redness and patchiness on your face, and to shrink pores for a beautiful, flawless, and youthful appearance.

MADE IN THE USA – Manufactured to the highest quality standards in FDA certified laboratories. A Pure
Vitamin C / Hyaluronic Acid Solution, No Alcohol – No Parabens

VEGAN-FRIENDLY – No cruelty solution that is safe for all skin types.”

So, if you have been on the fence about trying it, I say go for it. Defy Naturals Vitamin C Serum is available for purchase on Amazon.

Silk Base Closure for under $30 – First 100% Green Fiber Hair by Zury

Silk Base Closure

Silk Base Closure

I have another affordable hair review for you guys. This hair is new to the market and it’s called First 100% Green Fiber Hair by Zury. This hair is a new breed of synthetic hair lol. It is non-toxic, bromine-free, safe phosphorus flame retardant fiber. It doesn’t contain any harsh chemicals so it’s safe to wear and safe for the environment once it’s discarded. Can’t say I ever heard anything like this from any other synthetic hair product.Silk Base Closure

The hair comes in a single pack which includes three bundles of hair (16″, 18″, and 20″) and a silk base closure. Each pack retails for about $30. This color I got was 1B. It will be available in several other colors also.Silk Base ClosureSilk Base Closure

The silk base closure is a little different from what you may be use to, but it is still very good quality for the price. The top of the closure is made of a medium brown lace and this is was the hair is the parting area is tied to. It is not a free parting closure. Which means, the part you see is permanent and not able to be altered. However the part looks really good and turned out even better than expected when I apply a little foundation powder to it. The remaining hair on the closure is very small individual wefts that are hand sewed.Silk Base Closure

The bottom of the closure is the silk. It lays right below the lace, giving the appearance of human scalp.Silk Base Closure

The hair has a really good texture and overall feel. It’s not super shiny and plastic looking. In my experience with synthetic hair over the years, the First hair definitely tops the chart. The fiber so closely mimics human hair, by appearance and characteristics. I had the easiest time curling this hair. I also didn’t experience any snags or tangling. Even after curling the hair. This is unheard of for synthetic hair. Shedding was very minimal also. Come to thick about it, the shedding I did experience was only after curling the hair. Which is understandable given the amount of manipulation. Other than that, I haven’t experience any shedding.

Another thing I love about this hair is that the wefts are thin. This mad it so easy to sew when I made my wig. One the big selling points of this hair is it states that one pack is all you need for a complete install. I wasn’t sure about that because I like for my hair to have a certain thickness to it. I can say that I was pleasantly surprise with the amount of hair that was included in the package. It was definitely enough and the fullness was in perfect. Silk Base Closure

As states above, this hair is fairly new to the market and will be available for purchase in a few weeks. You will be able to purchase this hair from here. Try it out and tell me what you think!

Long Pink and White Acrylic Nails with Rose Gold Glitter

Long Pink and White Acrylic Nails

I have been neglecting my nails lately. As you might have noticed, it’s bee a few weeks since my last nail post. I’ve been extremely busy these past couple of weeks, but I finally set aside a little time to breath some life in my nails again.

This time around I decided to take it back to the basics (somewhat lol) with the classic long pink and white acrylic nails with a little twist. It has been a while since I did a french tip. I must say, my smile lines have gotten a lot better. The pink I used was of course my custom LongHairPrettyNails nude pink. The white acrylic I used was Whitest White by Tammy Taylor. The glitter used for the rose gold tips is from Born Pretty Store. Use the code CVEK31 to get an additional 10% off your order!

Products used to create this design:

This is a fresh nail set, so I started by soaking my previous set off and prepping my natural nails for the acrylic application. After prepping my natural nails, I applied the nail tips and shaped them to my liking.

I used the LongHairPrettyNails pink nude for the nail bed. Pink Nude Acrylic Nail Powder

I applied the acrylic using the reverse application method. Which is basically applying the acrylic to the nail bed first and shaping the edge for the smile line. Once the nail bed is shaped. All you do is apply the white acrylic to the free edge and it doesn’t have to be neat. That is because when you file the nail, it will reveal the perfect smile line 🙂Long Pink and White Acrylic Nails Long Pink and White Acrylic Nails

For the glitter tips, I used the reverse technique as well. To apply the glitter, I picked up a bead of Beauty Secrets Clear Acrylic Powder, then dipped in into the glitter. I then used the glitter/clear acrylic bead to fill in the free edge. I repeated this process until I achieve the right amount of thickness on the tip, then capped it with just the Beauty Secrets Clear Acrylic Powder.Long Pink and White Acrylic Nails

For the left middle finger and right ring finger, I was going for the aquarium nail. Which turned out to be a complete fail, but I’ll walk you through the process.

I took a clear nail tip and placed it on top my the nail. I used Beauty Secrets Clear Acrylic Powder to fill in 3 sides, leaving the side near the cuticle open. I used an xacto knife to place the glitter inside the nail. Then I used a re-purposed medicine syringe to fill the nail with baby oil. Finally I sealed the opening with clear acrylic. I lightly filled and buffed the nail to make it more smooth. I realized that I didn’t make enough room inside the aquarium nail for the liquid and glitter to move freely. Next time, I start with a thinner nail base before adhering the clear tip.Long Pink and White Acrylic Nails Long Pink and White Acrylic Nails Long Pink and White Acrylic Nails Long Pink and White Acrylic Nails

I was a little disappointed that the aquarium nails didn’t come out exactly as I had hope for. I had a totally different vision in my head about how this was going to turn out lol. But I was able to save the design somewhat by adding some free hand nail art. Long Pink and White Acrylic NailsI plan on trying the aquarium nails again for my next design.

Glamulet Charm Bracelet-Pandora Bracelet Dupe?

Glamulet Charm Bracelet
Charm bracelets are the ultimate accessory that every girl should have in her jewelry collection. One of my favorite things about charm bracelets is the ability to customize it with pieces that have their own meaning to you. Of course when it comes to any type of jewelry, there is different quality and cost associated with it. I’ve purchased cheaper bracelets that claim to be solid 0.925 silver but after months of wearing it, found out that wasn’t the case. I had no idea companies were selling silver plated bracelets and charms. Like really? Silver is not even all that expensive.

If you are looking for a good quality charm bracelet that’s going to last, I’m sure Pandora charm bracelets come to mind. Don’t get me wrong, they are simply gorgeous. The quality and craftsmanship is amazing. The price…eh..not so much.

So when Glamulet reached out to me to review their high quality charm bracelet (they claimed to be just as good or even better than Pandora) I just had to give them a try.

First, I must say that the gift wrapped packaging is so pretty. The bracelet came in a gold box with a big, bright, blue ribbon tied around it. It also came with a matching gift bag and polishing cloth.

I was sent one of the braided leather bracelets and 3 charms. I must admit when I first learned that they wanted to send me a leather bracelet, I wasn’t all that excited. I wanted the silver bracelet! But I was assured that the leather bracelet was very good quality and that I would really like it.

And I was not disappointed. The leather bracelet is truly well made. The leather is soft but durable. I was afraid that it would feel like plastic. But that was not the case at all. It is made of good quality leather. It has an locking clasp that turns into a bead when closes. Pretty cool. The bracelet retails for $26.95.Glamulet Charm Bracelet

I received three charms; the Bright Magenta Paved Crystal Heart Charm ($29.95)Glamulet Charm Bracelet

the Full of Love Silver Charm ($6.99)Glamulet Charm Bracelet

and the Love Puzzle Pendant Charm ($21.95).Glamulet Charm Bracelet

I’m really impressed with the charms. When taking them out of the package, I could immediately tell that they are made of solid 0.925 silver. The charms have a great weight to them; not flimsy at all. The craftsmanship on the paved crystal heart is perfect.

I have been wearing this bracelet non-stop since it arrived in the mail. I have had no quality issues what so ever. No crystals have fallen out. No broken claps. No torn leather. Nothing! I haven’t been exactly gentle with this thing either lol. So, if you are in the market for a good quality silver charm bracelet that’s made of real solid 0.925 silver, is made of great quality materials, and that’s going to last you more than a few wears, definitely give Glamulet a try. Their prices are already affordable, but if you sign up for their newsletter, you will received even more savings. They are also having a summer clearance sale.Glamulet Charm Bracelet
