For this design, I tried out some nail decals from Born Pretty Store. This was my first time using nail decals and I must admit, there was a bit of a learning curve. However, once I got the hang of them, the process went pretty smooth.

The design I have here is this galaxy, gradient effect design. This decal set comes with 12 different sizes of decals. I started with the smallest one thinking it would be perfect for my pinky nail. It was entirely too small. I had to go through two sizes before I found the perfect fit. I do wish that the sizing of these decal were bigger. Most of these sizes were too small for my nails and didn’t cover the nail completely from side to side.
I was then able to slide the decal off of the paper backing and place it on my nail. The decal moves quite loosely when wet. Once I placed it in the perfect position, I took a cotton pad and very gently patted the excess water from the decal.
Lastly, I place a coat of my favorite topcoat, Seche Vite, to set the design in place. The cool thing about water decals are they have a weird reaction with nail polish. It’s like it just melts it away! So, I didn’t have to cut the excess decal from the tip of my nails. I just put some top coat on and it sort of dissolved on it own. I used a dotting tool to remove the excess decal material.
