Gelibility – Christian Louboutin Red Bottom Nails

Gelibility

For this nail design, I redid the Christian Louboutin Red Bottoms inspired nails from last year. This has become one of my most popular designs. I can admit though, my execution of the design could have been a whole lot better. My nail skills has improved since then. So, I wanted to give it another try. This time with a different technique.

Products used to create this design:

Firstly, instead of painting my nails red underneath like last time, I decided to use clear tips and red acrylic. I applied the clear tips to my nails. I shaped and blended them as usual. Then I put a thin layer of Beauty Secrets Clear Acrylic powder on my nail bed. This will ensure that my natural nail will not stain from the super pigmented red acrylic. I use red acrylic to form my nail. With this technique, the red color will show through the clear tip underneath my nail. This is a much cleaner look then painting the underside red.

Next, I used one of my favorite nude nail polishes, OPI “Hands off my Kielbasa” and the Gelibility system to make the OPI polish into a long lasting gel polish.
Gelibilty is an awesome two part system that turns ANY regular nail polish into a gel polish. Gel polishes are much more expensive than regular polish. It can get costly buying various colors of it. But with Gelibility, you can change the nail polish you already own, into Gel polish. Each Gelibility set equals about 25 gel manicures. This is an average savings of $375. First I applied a thin layer of Gelibility Stick it Soak Off Gel Bonder. This helps the gel polish adhere better and last longer. I cure it in my UV/LED nail lamp for 60 seconds. Then I wiped the tacky layer off with alcohol.
Then, I mixed equal parts of the OPI nail polish and Gelibility Dual Purpose Soak off Gel. I used the nail polish brush to mix the two really well. Then I applied a thin coat to my nails. You have to make sure the coats are thin. If it’s too thick, it will not cure properly. I learned this the hard way lol. I cured each coat for 60 seconds. It took 4 coats to get the desired coverage.
To finish off your Gelibility manicure, all you have to do is apply a coat of the Dual Purpose Soak Off Gel, cure, then wipe off the tacky layer.
But for this design, I wanted something glossier. I applied Pink Gellac Ultra Shine Gel Top Coat to all my nails. Before I cured, I adhered a/b crystals to each ring finger. Adhering your rhinestones with gel gives them the ultimate hold without sacrificing shine. That is because you don’t have to apply anything on top of the stones like you do if you use a regular top coat nail polish.GelibilityGelibility
I am so in love with this design. The gel polish just really elevates this look in my opinion. It looks so much neater and definitely shinier! Tell me what you guys think! Share your thought below.

Red Bottoms Nails – Christian Louboutin Inspired

Red Bottoms Nails

Christian Louboutin – Red Bottoms Nails
Everyone is familiar with the sleek and sophisticated look of the infamous Christian Louboutin nude red bottom pumps.  This design was inspired by that. I wanted simple and sleek but with a little twist.

Here are the products I used to create this nail design:
• 100/180 grit nail file – File Emory Board Set 5 100/180 Grit Creative Nail Design Polish Buffer
No Lift Nail Primer .75oz
No-Lift Nails Monomer Liquid
5pcs Acrylic Nail Art UV Gel Carving Pen Brush Liquid Powder DIY No. 2/4/6/8/10
Tammy Taylor Nail Powder 2.5 Oz Dramatic Pink
• Nail forms – Nail Art Guide Form Acrylic UV Gel Tips Extension 500ps
e.l.f. 4 Piece Nail Polish Set – Color Nude
Kiss nail art paint polish, red
Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Nail Coat, 0.5 Ounce

I began with removing the old nail polish and designs. I like to use %100 Acetone nail polish remover. It makes the process a lot easier and faster.

Since I am doing a fill-in, I try to remove as much of the acrylic that has lifted with my nail nippers.

Once that is complete, I file my nails making them as smooth as possible. I also file my nails into the shape I desire. For this look, I was going for a more almond shaped nail.

I use a cotton round with acetone to remove any excess dust and to remove any oils from the nail. Add a little primer my natural nail only, then I began to apply the acrylic. I take my time with this process. I like for my fill-ins to look like a fresh set of nails. A pet peeve of mine is harsh fill lines.

When that process is complete, I then file and buffs my nails. It’s really important to take your time with this step as well. If the nail is not smooth, it will be very noticeable once you apply the nail polish.
Next, I wash my hands to remove any dust and towel dry completely.
Then I apply the ELF polish. I am unsure of the name of this polish. It came in a set of four. None of the nail polishes had names (weird I know lol). But any nude brown color would do. I applied two coats of polish.

Next I used Kiss nail art paint in red. These nail art paints are great because they come with the long, slender brush which makes it easy to apply. Also the paint itself is a little thicker than regular nail polish so one coat is all that is needed. For this design, I paint the edges first, and then I use a small angled nail art brush to paint the underside of the nail.

Next, I use the same small flat nail brush (once red polish is thoroughly removed) and remove any polish on the cuticle or sides of the nail.

Once it is all completely dry, I use two coats of the Seche Vite top coat.
