I have been asked quite a bit about how I remove my acrylic nails without damaging my natural nail. My reply is always simple. %100 Acetone!
It really makes me cringe when I hear about people biting or ripping their acrylic nails off. I know you may want to get them off in a hurry but this is a big no no! When you pull and rip at the acrylic from your natural nail, you are actually ripping off layers of your natural nail in the process making them soft and extremely brittle.
When it’s time to remove my acrylic nails, I use %100 Acetone nail polish remover. The label has to say “%100 Acetone” because anything less will not be enough to dissolve the acrylic. For more information about Acetone click here.
I use a non plastic bowl to soak my nails in. Acetone dissolves plastic so your bowl can’t be plastic. This bowl is strictly used for this purpose. Please do not use bowls that you eat from!
Once I pour a good amount into the bowl to cover my nails, I simply place my hands in the bowl and soak.
I cover the bowl with an old towel as my hands soak. I do this to keep the warmth inside the bowl to speed up the process. This is how my nails look after 30 minutes.
I typically use a wooden orange stick to scrape off the softened acrylic. However, I didn’t have a wooden orange stick at the time so I use a metal hair clip.
I let my nails soak for another 15-20 minutes until the remaining acrylic is dissolve. And this is the end result.
And that is how you safely remove acrylic nails. No pulling, yanking, or drilling. Your nails will very much appreciate it lol!
